TRiO Annual Awards
TRiO Awards and Scholarships Overview
Each year at the TRiO End of the Year Celebration, TRiO recognizes outstanding students who exemplify the mission and purpose of the program. The following is the list of TRiO Annual Awards:
TRiO Citizenship Award
This award applauds those participants who model the virtues and qualities of a student leader and promotes the success of other students and TRiO.
TRiO Outstanding New Participant Award
This award applauds those new participants who have been an especially important addition to the program, embracing all TRiO has to offer.
TRiO Perseverance Award
This award celebrates those participants who have demonstrated significant determination in the face of personal or academic obstacles to attain their academic goals.
TRiO Academic Achievement Award
This award recognizes the academic success of a participant who has successfully earned and maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.5, thus earning TRiO Honor Roll each quarter.
TRiO Most Involved Participant Award
This award is based on exemplary Student Support Services (SSS) participation and involvement during the academic year.
TRiO Student of the Year
This award is based on exemplary SSS participation, academic achievement, and community involvement. To be considered for the TRiO SSS Student of the Year Award, SSS program participants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Strength (minimum 3.5 college GPA)
- Strong on and off campus involvement (i.e.. volunteer projects, student organization)
- Strong participation in SSS sponsored activities
Most Inspirational TRiO Student (determined by TRiO Student Ambassadors)
This award recognizes TRiO student(s) who have supported and inspired other TRiO students to reach their potential. This includes helping fellow TRiO students access on/off campus resources, serving as an informal mentor, reaching out to the TRiO community to promote engagement and community, and providing a positive and warm energy to others.
TRiO Scholastic Math Award
This award recognizes students who has devoted time and effort into academic excellence and progress towards math. This can also include students who have demonstrated leadership towards supporting fellow classmates with math persistence and learning (eg. a student who has coordinated study groups and encourages fellow students to strive for success).
TRiO Achievers Scholarship (Transfer Course and Professionalism Course Scholarship)
This scholarship award is awarded to four students in the TRiO Transfer Foundation course who produce an exceptional scholarship application. The scholarship recognizes growth and success. Each student will receive $250.

TRiO Learning Scholar
This award recognizes a student who demonstrated growth and change in enhancing their learning strategies during the course of this class. This person exemplifies a growth mindset and exhibits characteristics of a lifelong learner.
TRiO Partnership for Equity Award
This award recognizes non-TRiO staff or faculty who have served as an integral component to the success of the TRiO program. Recommended to be awarded to 1-2 partners per year.
